COQUITLAM, BRITISH COLUMBIA – (DATE) – Global communications infrastructure company PortaOne, Inc. today announced it has successfully concluded interoperability testing with the Billion Phone SIP-softphone freeware application. Created and marketed by VoIP software developer Professional Information Technologies, Ltd. (ProfInfoTech), the unique application differentiates a service provider’s offerings by giving their end-users a way to monitor their account balance onscreen while they make VoIP calls over their PC. The software can be customized and branded to suit the service provider’s needs.

PortaOne’s demonstrated interoperability is between Billion Phone and PortaSwitch, PortaOne’s IP multimedia subsystem. PortaSwitch, a Class 5-level product, is able to handle the full range of call control and billing functions from billing and provisioning to advanced call features, monitoring and reporting. The platform includes a complete API, along with an open and easily-understood source code, to facilitate customization of services to any business partner’s needs.

Billion Phone is a compact and easily downloadable application that creates an easy-to-use onscreen tool for making and receiving VoIP calls. In addition to displaying account balance, the application includes contact list capability as well as call history, speaker/microphone volume controls and other settings.
